Shots...

Along with turning One comes some pretty nasty shots at the doctor's office :( Emery got his MMR and his Chicken Pox shots today along with one other. Becky, Dr. Coat's new nurse is so wonderful. She spent some time with Emery and talked to me all about the side effects of these new shots. She said he may run a pretty high fever, not want to sleep tonight, the whole nine yards. She said he may even produce a rash in a few days. I hope he doesn't react this badly to them, but if so, we will deal with it!

He did really well at the appointment. Dr. Coats and her nurses love Emery. They think he's so cute. He's been at the same weight (21 lbs) for a few months now. I was concerned about him not gaining but Dr. Coats showed me his growth chart and said she's not at all concerned. He has shown the right gains and is now at the "holding steady" period where babies/toddlers often don't gain much until they are about 15 months old. She said because he's so active he's burning a lot more energy. She said as long as he is eating well she isn't worried. And trust me, he's eating well! She said since he's doing so well and is right on track she doesn't need to see him again until he's 18 months old. Good! Not another doctor's appointment or any needles for another 6 months!

The shots seemed to make him pretty tired so we came right home and now he's down for a nap now. I hope he sleeps well and feels a little relief when he gets up. Maybe if he's up to it we'll go to Babies R Us and spend his birthday gift card from Auntie Simone today :)

In the mean time, I plan on cuddling and playing with my little guy until he's recovered from those nasty shots!
