Emery had his 6 month shots and check up yesterday! Dr. Coats came into the room and said "I can already tell he's a perfectly healthy 6 month old because the paper on the (exam) table is all crumpled!" She said that's one of her signs! While we were waiting he was just fascinated with it and loves that sound!
She checked him over and said he looks GREAT...very healthy and growing well! He weighed 18 lbs and was 26 1/2 inches long. He's in the 54 %ile for weight and 46%ile for length. I couldn't be happier that he his healthy! Now to add in the funny part...his head measures at the 91st %ile! I just told my little man a big noggin equals a big brain!! :)
He did have to get three shots again yesterday, but he was a tough little cookie. He didn't cry right at first and the nurse and I thought maybe he wouldn't, but then all the sudden tears welled up and out came the scream! It only lasted a few seconds though and he was all better...he even got to show Daddy his two yellow band aids later! (I should have taken a photo!)
We were given the go-ahead to start Emery on Stage 2 baby foods (where more than one food is mixed together...like Apples & Blueberries or Chicken & Veggies). Dr. Coats also said it would be fine for us to start giving Emery teething biscuits, Cheerios, mashed potatoes, applesauce, mashed bananas...things that are easy to mush up and swallow. We probably won't start any of that for another month or so...there's no rush to make him grow up any faster than needed! But, she did say we could start trying a sippy cup with a little water a few times a day so he could get the hang of it...so.....here he is!!!
He doesn't quite get the idea that he can drink something from it yet...but he sure enjoyed chewing on the spout :) We'll keep trying just for the fun of it so maybe in a few months he'll have it down pat!
Enjoy the day!
Jenn
