Our Home
Well, as you may have noticed on Facebook, we have made the decision to sell our home and find a bigger place here in Wichita. It's bittersweet, really. We LOVE our home, our neighborhood, the location, everything. We've made this house a home in the last seven years. We've gotten married here, brought two children home here, watched them have many milestones while right here in this house, celebrated holidays, birthdays, and special events. We've done lots of work in it too. We've put new siding on, painted, put in new carpet, bought new appliances, put in new doors, fixtures, fans. We've gone through rough times here...like when we found out about the termites and radon...both problems of which we had to invest money into to fix right away so we could fix them before they got to be a bigger issue. We've purchased furniture, prepared a baby nursery (twice), and landscaped our yard. All things that have given us so many memories. So hard to believe where we are now when I think back to buying the house when we were just 22, not even married yet. Going house hunting with my parents help, signing paperwork to make us homeowners, paying new bills, learning how to repair things, picking out paint colors and flooring together. We've come a long way and it's been such a fun and exciting ride.
Now, we need a bigger home. We need a place where our children can grow in to, spread out, have their own space. We need more bathrooms. We need a place where the kids have room to do homework, have friends over, enjoy cookouts. Space to make larger meals and do more laundry, space to save more baby items & children's mementos. This home was perfect for what we needed when we needed it and now we need something else.
Yesterday we had an Open House and we've had a few showings. So far the feedback has been very positive. People all seem to like it and think it's very clean and shows well. We just need someone to take the bite and make an offer now. We've looked a bit at homes in the area that we'd be interested in, but don't want to get too excited until we know ours is under a contract. We do want to stay in the Maize School District though, and have our children attend school there. We have a list of things we are looking for, and we hope we can make it work and find the next place to call home just as wonderfully as this house has been to us.
I think I'm more emotional about it than Patrick, but this process is just another thing for us to go through as a family. I just keep saying, "the end result will be awesome!" :)
