It's A Girl!!

As I'm sure you've either seen on Facebook, heard from one of us, or read in our Christmas letter, we found out last week that baby #2 is indeed a little girl!!  We are very excited!  Patrick and I both had a hunch that this baby was a girl and our "hunch" was right!

At the ultrasound everything went great.  Our little lady is measuring right on track, and showed 6 days ahead of my due date.  However, since it's not more than a week, Dr. Coats is keeping the same due date of May 4, 2011.  She weighed in at 10 oz already and was quite wiggly and active on camera!  The ultrasound tech told us that while it was hard to get good measurements with very active babies like ours, she preferred it that way because it showed how healthy they are!  We were able to see her sweet little beating heart, her brain, spine, bladder, leg bones, eyes, nose, feet, hands...all of those important parts!  One of the neatest things we were able to see (and the technology now days just amazes me) was her drinking the amniotic fluid.  We sat and watched her take several big gulps, opening and closing her mouth and swallowing.  Very cool!  She has a little button nose just like Emery does and when you compare the two ultrasound photos from Emery at 18 wks 5 days and Little Lady at 18 wks 2 days, they look very similar.  Hard not to tell that they are related! Ha!  It didn't take long for the tech to tell us that baby #2 was a girl, either.  And her comment was "I've been doing this for lots of years and I can say for sure your baby is a girl!"  So, hopefully that means we won't have a big surprise when May rolls around!

I'm going to post some ultrasound photos here for you to see.  Unfortunately, our scanner isn't working so I had to take photos of the photos, so it isn't the best quality.  At least you get the idea though...that she's a cutie in the making!

More than anything, we are so very blessed she is healthy and growing.  We are thankful to God for this blessing and little life and can't wait for the next half of the pregnancy and bringing her into our family!

(And yes, we have a name picked out, but no, we aren't sharing it with anyone until she arrives!!)

Here she is drinking!

And here is Emery when we got home!  We shared the news with him by buying him a few pink balloons to play with!  He can already say "Baby Sister!" :)
