10 Years

Has it really already been ten years since Patrick and I graduated from high school?  It's so hard to believe.  Time really does fly by, and yet, in the past 10 years...look at all that we've done and how we've changed!  Look at the wonderful marriage and two wonderful children we've added to our lives! 

Last Saturday, we traveled back to Osage City for our 10 year high school class reunion.  The original plan was to have a family BBQ at the local park, but with the weather staying above 100 degrees for the past 2 weeks or more, the BBQ was relocated to a local business that has a nice big conference/party room.  The majority of those that attended have children.  That was one of the best parts about getting together--meeting all the little ones and watching all of our children interact together.  The turn out wasn't as great as we were expecting, but it was still very neat to catch up with those that were able to make it.  After eating lunch, we went to the school.  One of our classmates is a teacher at the elementary school now, so she was able to give us a full tour of the elementary, middle, and high school.  Things have changed a lot since we attended...but the memories are all still there.  It was like complete nostalgia walking into the old high school (which is now the middle school).  Memories of hanging out by the lockers, taking certain classes, remembering certain teachers, inside jokes, etc.  all returned.  It was really pretty neat.  It was especially neat to see Emery walking through those same halls, just as Patrick and I did.  Those halls are where Patrick and I first met...where our life together started.  And look where we are now!  Amazing how things work.

After the tour, we went out to dinner at the local mexican resturant with Lindsay, one of my best friend's from childhood, her husband PJ, and their daughter Maddi.  We've stayed in touch through the years and actually last year we went to a Royals game with them (funny enough on the day I found out I was pregnant with Elle).  Lindsay is expecting baby number two and she found out she was pregnant on the day Elle was born!  Isn't that crazy?!  Anyway, we had a great time and snapped some fun photos of Maddi and Emery together.  They are over a year apart but almost the same size!  Emery even gave Maddi her first kiss right there after dinner! Ha!

We went back to my parent's house, put the kids to bed, and then met up with the classmates at the local bar for a couple drinks and to watch a few of them sing karaoke.  With Elle only being a couple months old, we called it an early night and were in bed by 11:30.  It was a fun day that reminded us of lots of good memories.  There were some really really great things about life 10 years ago, but none can compare to the way life is now.
