This was the first Thanksgiving that we spent just as a little family. We had no visitors and had no where to go...it was just the four of us. While we missed our family, it was really nice to enjoy the day with the kids and soak up the fun of Turkey Day with them!
I took it upon myself to make a Thanksgiving feast just for us! I made it all...and it was all delicious!! We had TONS of leftovers, but that's ok...you can't beat Thanksgiving leftovers! While I was working hard in the kitchen, Patrick had a great time playing with the kids. I just love over-hearing them laugh and giggle and rough-house downstairs while I'm busy cooking.
After we ate and the kids took a good nap, we went to the movie theatre to see Happy Feet 2. It wasn't as good as the original Happy Feet, but Emery had his popcorn, Elle had her Gerber puffs, and we enjoyed the time together.
That evening, Arthur, our friendly Elf on the Shelf made his yearly appearance! He was given to us on Emery's first Christmas by my brother, as a tradition to do with our children each year. Arthur flies back to the North Pole each night to tell Santa if the children have been naughty or nice each day. Then every morning, before the children awake, Arthur finds a new spot in our house to sit and watch during the day.
Arthur has been a great addition to our family holiday fun! Every morning Emery has had a fun time finding where Arthur landed. There are a few rules with Arthur, too. He is not allowed to speak to anyone, he just sits and watches! And, if children touch him his magic disappears! Emery has been very careful not to touch Arthur because he wants to be sure that Arthur is able to fly back to Santa each night. One day Arthur was even sitting right on the window sill and Emery didn't even try to touch him! So neat!
Anyway, back to Thanksgiving :) We got a cute photo of our two sweet turkeys and had a great, memorable day with them!
In mid-November, Emery started riding his tricycle very well! He's so proud!
Emery and I made a "Thankful Tree" a few days before Thanksgiving.
